Geno Smith Dedicates Win Over Giants To Ben McAdoo, Jerry Reese

Oct 31, 2022 8:41 AM

Geno Smith led the Seattle Seahawks to a 27-13 win over the New York Giants on Sunday.

After the game, Smith was asked whether he feels any sense of revenge in beating the Giants considering how he was treated during his lone season with the team in 2017, when he took over for Eli Manning late in the year only for the team to reverse course one week later and reinsert Manning as their starter.

Smith said "not at all" and instead took the opportunity to show his gratitude to Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese, at the time the Giants head coach and general manager, respectively.

"I'm happy to be here in Seattle," Smith said. "I spent one year with the Giants. That year to me was like a blur and my life has moved on from them. I don't have any remorse towards anyone there. In fact, to me, this game was for Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese. They believed in me. So as far as any other thing, I don't really care for it. I'm happy to be here in Seattle. It's like a family here. It feels like home. And so I'm just enjoying my time here and continuing to work hard with these guys and just trying to be the best we can be."

Cam Akers To Rejoin Rams If Not Traded

Oct 30, 2022 3:46 PM

The Los Angeles Rams are not planning to part ways with Cam Akers if they are unable to trade the third-year running back, sources told ESPN.

The Rams would find a trade partner for Akers in a perfect world, according to sources, but they also recognize that he can still help them this season.

Therefore, if Akers is not dealt before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline, he is expected to return to the Rams and play for them again this season, sources said.

Mike Evans: Nobody's Pointing The Finger At Tom Brady

Oct 28, 2022 9:02 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost three-straight games, but Mike Evans says no one on the team is blaming Tom Brady for the struggles.

"He's the best to ever do it," Mike Evans said. "I mean, he hates losing. That's all he knows is winning and being 3-5 is not good enough. So we've got to turn it around and soon. Nobody is pointing the finger at Tom Brady. It's the whole team. It's a team game."

Some have pointed to Brady's extended break from training camp and occasional absences during the regular season as reasons why the offense hasn't come together.

Cooper Kupp: All Games Should Be Played On Grass

Oct 28, 2022 8:58 AM

Cooper Kupp didn't hesitate when asked if he had a preference for playing on a turf or natural grass field.

"It's not even close," Kupp said. "I know there's stuff going around the league right now, there's some issues. Hands down, we should be playing on grass. Hands down, we should be on grass. And that's all I'm going to say."

Questions about artificial turf have surfaced again after DK Metcalf and J.C. Jackson each left Sunday's game at SoFi Stadium with knee injuries, both on noncontact plays.

Kupp was then asked if the turf at SoFi Stadium was any different, and he quickly replied, "We should be on grass."

Alvin Kamara: Not Used To Losing; Saints Need To Regain 'Swag'

Oct 27, 2022 8:23 AM

Alvin Kamara spoke to his teammates after last week's loss because he didn't like where the mentality of the New Orleans Saints was headed.

The running back encouraged them to "get their swag back" and regain their pride after the 42-34 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

Kamara said he has been on some of the best offenses in the league during his six seasons in New Orleans, and one common thread was the players' attitude and confidence. He wasn't seeing that in this team, which has given the ball away more than any team in the league and is one of the most penalized as well.

"Even when we were down, it was never like we were looking at the score," Kamara said of the Saints in past seasons. "It was like, 'Well, all right, s---, let's go play football.' ... We haven't really been playing like that. It's been ... just of a little bit of a panic, a little bit of a, 'Oh s---, we're down.' Like man, we don't play like that. I still don't have that kind of mentality."
